[KLUG Members] samba server can be browsed but not pinged

Some progress: I can now see the Samba Server in a browse list on
several Win machines, and can ping it by name and IP address.  But,
trying to open it I get either a network error (Win 98 box) or a No
Service error (Win XP).  The XP box says "No service is operating at the
destination network endpoint on the remote system."
