[KLUG Members] dpt_i2o or i20_block ?

I just tried upgrading from Rh9 to Suse 9.1 only to find a rude
awakening, my Adaptec I2O card has no driver!

I went into Yast/hardware/disk controller and it sees the card by name
and offers the dpt_i2o driver but when I apply it, it says the module
can not be found.

I read on some web sites that Suse did not support I2o and that the 2.6
kernel broke the I2o drivers. They hinted that i2o_block was a "newer
replacement". If it is a replacement, when doesn't Suse offer that
driver in Yast? I can load it manually under 9.1 and I can access the
drive, but I'm a bit worried at the process for such a critical
component of my server.

I downloaded the 9.2Live CD, my 9.2 disk are in the mail, and I again
went to yast and this time I was able to apply the dpt_i2o module
successfully.

This leaves me worried. I can't find an acceptable explanation of what
is going on here. Which is newer/better/safer/faster, the dpt_i2o or the
i2o_block? What broke in 2.6 and is it really fixed now?
