Sitepoint.com has a great forum for help with PHP and they offer a
couple of books. I had their beginner book and found it helpful as a
starter to using PHP and MySQL. They offer two newer advanced books I
have not tried yet.

The php.net documentation is some of the best out there for help on
using functions.

I own about 5 PHP books and I bought each for their own purpose (I would
have to do something that one covered better than the others) so it's
hard to suggest a single book. You might see if you can find any book
that talks about OSCommerce in particular.
