Not quite sure here, but two things come to mind.

Redhat (anaconda and kudzu) has had problems with recognizing usb controllers. 
1. Try "nousb" at the end of your boot prompt
2. Once the system is up, and all your devices are found, run as root:
chkconfig kudzu off
This will turn automatic _plug_and_play_ recognition off though

In the BIOS turn off/disable power management

If it overheats, or gets close, or the fan slows or stops, the board should shut
down altogether. You might want to look at lm_sensors.
