[KLUG Members] Laptop PCMCIA Wireless Problem

No dual boot. The problem that I'm trying to avoid by installing Linux is
that a recent Windows update caused the fan to start shutting off
inappropriately resulting in the computer overheating. Instead of figuring
out how to deal with that problem I want to put Linux on it, since my wife
is a good (albeit reluctant) candidate for Linux use. The deal breaker is
WiFi, because the whole appeal to a laptop for her is that she can use the
computer sitting on the couch or on the deck as she chooses.

If I'm going to have Windows on the computer and deal with that, then
there's no point in having Linux.

I find it hard to belive that there isn't a way to get Linux running on a
machine that once ran Win XP just fine, including the WiFi.
