Okay, great. Thank you for your help. Yes, I have tried setting IP, 
netmaks, gateway, etc. and nothing has helped. Still can't ping even the 
router or servers in my subnet.

Next question: I have no idea what drivers I need to deal with here or what 
to do with them. I've never compiled anything. Can anyone start me down 
that path?
