This is the latest message I got from the WMU CS Major who has a project
that includes rebuilding the kernel. I haven't a clue how to help her
anymore, and I don;t think this is enough info for anyone here to help,
but any suggestions would be good to pass back to her. I have told her
about this list, but I guess she hasn;t signed on.

Hello,
Well, after I finally got hooked up to the internet and did an online
update, I thought that the problem had been fixed. But I was looking at
the configuration incorrectly. I still have the same errors. This is the
output of ksymoops:
Error(regular_file):
read_nm_symbols stat vmlinux failed
ksymoops: No such file or directory
Warning (read_vmlinux):
no kernel symbols in vmlinux, is vmlinux a valid vmlinux file?
Error(regular_file):
read ksyms stat /proc/ksyms failed
ksymoops: No such file or directory
No modules in ksyms, skipping objects
No ksyms, skipping lsmod
I tried creating a symbolic link to the ksyms file that is in /sbin, but
it said that the file didn't exist even though it does. I've looked
online and found many things saying that people had the same errors, but
nothing about fixing them. I asked my teacher and he had no idea. The
startup log says: No module symbols loaded - kernel modules not enabled.
But the config file says that they are and lsmod returns a long list of
modules. This is due on Wednesday and I am stressing out. When are the
guys who help with linux in c208? If it comes down to it, I'll have to
bring my desktop in. Thanks again for the help.
Erin
