[KLUG Members] Ubuntu / drive mounting problem.

Good evening, everybody. Ubuntu drive/kernel problem here.

I've got a ubuntu box that I've had up a couple months. I've run into a
few problems with the kernels, which caused me to build my own.

2.6.10-5-686-smp has a problem where it doesn't want to use both CPUs.

2.6.11-1-686-smp has a problem where adc_vh_0 or whatever will take all
my CPU time, but both CPUs will work.

I built my own kernel on 2.6.12, and things work, by and large. However,
I cannot mount my 160GB drive.

IN the other kernels (when they weren't freaking out or crashing my
computer, the uniproc ones were better behaved) I could mount this
drive. Now, I cannot.

The error is :

$sudo mount /dev/hdb1 /mnt/large/
mount: /dev/hdb1 already mounted or /mnt/large/ busy

neither hdb from what I can tell nor /mnt/large is busy - so I can't
figure this one out. I've tried compiling in different IDE drivers,
blah blah blah, but I just can't make a go of it. It seems I can either
forget about using my large, storage drive, or I can forget about my
second CPU.

I can't find much for help with google.. Any ideas?

Adam
