Only catch is that each of those other programs local on the box must be
adjusted from their default of 127.0.0.1 to the IP of the box AND then maintain
them when the box IP changes... whereas 127.0.0.1 always works.

Yup, basically was looking to specify which of multiple interfaces in a
multi-interface box MySQL would bind to, sounds like they do not support that
by default.

I have switched to the LAN IP for now, and will see how that works out.
