What is the stumbling block?

Here is a list of the req's.  They're probably already on your system.

Requirements

GRAMPS requires python 2.2 and the gnome-python and pygtk2 packages. The 
gnome-python and pygtk2 packages should be versions 1.99.14 or greater. 
Versions 2.0.0 or higher are recommended.

GRAMPS is known to run on Linux, BSD, Solaris, and Mac OS X.
