[KLUG Members] Can't save changes via link

How come, when I open a document using a link on my Gnome desktop, Linux
won't let me save changes I've made in the document? When I try to save
the document, I get error message "Could not create backup copy." WHen I
try to close the document, it prompts me, "Document has been modified.
Do you want to save your changes?" When I click "Save," I get the same
error message about not being able to create the a backup copy. The link
has permissions "lrwxrwxrwx."
