[KLUG Members] mailman mailing list question

I have setup a mailman list at work and I manually mass added a bunch of 
students to it. They show up in the members list and I have set the 
global moderation bit to off. I read this to mean that they will not 
require moderation.

One of the students sent a message today that came to me for moderation 
with the reason of "non-member sending to member list". I don't get it 
though, they used the email I mass inserted them with.

Anyone have any idea why they would still be required to go through the 
moderation?
