Many people beleive that our friends in Redmond, Washington are intent
on collecting money for every little thing that they produce, and they
just never share. However, we will take a look at 4 very useful items
that have emerged from Microsoft over the past few years. No, you won't
find these on store shelves (not by themselves, anyway), but many of us
rely on them, perhaps we would benefit from using themselves even more.
Covered as 4 short presentations, each indicates that Microsoft knows
how to create and use open standards when they see how these methods
prove to be effective.

Our presenter:

Robert Brown is a founding member, past chairman, the current publicity
director of KLUG, and has over 25 years experience in software
development in numerous environments, disciplines, and industries. An
intermittant user of UNIX systems for over 15 years, Bob has developed
applications with Linux in in the course of his professional and
volunteer activities. He can also be seen cycling the Kal-Haven trail,
wandering around, perpetrating nature photgraphy or traveling to some
fairly unusual places. Recently, he was elected to chair a major a SIG
of the ACM.
