I run my home WEP LAN in the clear and just establish a VPN to the
gateway.  Either PPTP or OpenVPN work well.  Configure the gateway to
toss all non-VPN'd traffic.  No more messing with WEP keys or ESSIDs,
etc...  and rather than SSH tunnel all the ports I want it works just
like a normal connection.
