Placing a "-" in front of the filename in syslog.conf does not disable
to log, it disables fsync() log message commits.  "-" should be present
on most logs on production servers in order to let the elevator do its
thing; otherwise, unless your logs are on separate spindles from data,
heavy logging will slaughter server performance.
