If you pasted the the content from evolution and it wigged out (in
gedit), then I would guess that the code-page of the e-mail message
(this is supplied by a message header) is wrong. (The remote end is
using Outlook Express? it seems to get codepage settings wrong allot.)
If that is case, then you are unfortunately dealing with the situation
of "everything is working correctly" (both evolution and gedit and even
gnome-terminal are unicode, and thus codepage, aware).
A quick fix might be to save the message to a file and run in through
strings, and open the file in gedit.
cat savedmessage.msg | strings > tada.text
Then tell the sender to get a modern mail client.
Just a thought.
