It should.  For every interface be it eth, ppp, tap, tun, etc... it should
appear in ifconfig if it is online (even if it does not have an IP address)..

Yes, you'll have to NAT between the networks if the ranges overlap.  It is
gnarly.  It is best to try to keep the range of every network you work on
unique,  life is just simpler that way.
