Personally I'd go with SME server for your purposes. I use it quite a bit
and it's perfect for that role and runs exceptionally well on a 500 MHz box
- I have one on a 500 and one on a 300 acting as home routers. This is the
one that used to be called E-Smith. It's well worth playing with.

No GUI, but very nice web-based controls.
