It is a crap shoot. Some models of Tyan boards, for instance, get
updates for seemingly ever, other models they orphan in as few as 18
months. I would expect other OEMs to be the same. There is actually
allot about this on the Asterisk list, since bus timing issues and the
like matter a great deal more when you want the system to process
real-time or quasi-real-time information - a shocking number of PC
implementations of the PCI bus have problems doing more that a handful
of VOIP connections.
