What exactly in chip-based DRM prevents Linux from being the OS?

I read through some info about the security chip on some Intel 915 based
MB's... one would have to be nuts to use it. Board specific encryption of data
on your HDD... fry the MB and loose the data... sounds like the security
solution is hardened Linux and not Windows with this sort of encryption!
