[KLUG Members] usb kernel driivers

Hi, all.

I have a usb extension kid based on a pic-processor. The device has some
programmable ttl-level i/o ports. When hooked up to my suse 9.3 it is
being recognized as a usb device and its id is visable with lsusb. Linux
sees the device as a mice. I need to write a kernel driver for it so the
protocol handshaking can be done properly and the i/o ports can be used to
control some stepper motors for a toy I am building.

This is where the problem starts. I have studied my administrator guide,
searched on the internet but no luck. For 2.4 kernels it appears to be
easy. (already wrote a driver once for a relais-extension board connected
via an isa slot), but that is a little outdated now.

For usb on a 2.6 kernel it seems to hard to get any usful information.
However I have the (misplaced?) idea it should very easy because of the
hotplug mechanism.

Is there a memeber on this list that has written an usb kernel driver for
an usb device or one who can point me in the right direction (an example
driver for instance) or how to pick this up.

most regards,

Bert.
