I haven't used it personally, but I'm on the MythTV mailing list and
I've have read a lot about it.

First let me make sure you understand that it is NOT a live-CD distro,
as some people assume from the "Knopp*" name. :-)

When I decided to install Myth, for me it was a tossup between KnoppMyth
and Fedora as my distro.

At that time people said that KnoppMyth was slightly easier to install
than Fedora, but I went with Fedora for other reasons. I'm not sure if
KnoppMyth is still easier than Myth on Fedora. I just started with a
fresh FC4 install with Myth, and there was almost nothing to it. This
was MUCH easier than installing Myth on FC1, when I first started.

The reason I went with Fedora now and back then is:

1) There exists one of the best howto docs I've ever seen for
installing Myth on Fedora. It's kept very current and covers a very
wide variety of hardware possibilities. http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/
Click on "HOWTO" in the left hand column.

2) There exists one of the best Myth RPM repositories for Fedora that
I've ever seen. It's also kept very current. (see howto above)

3) Upgrades on FC are simple and straight forward.

4) FC is more flexable a distro in case you want to run any other
[non Myth] services on the same box.

5) I'm fairly familiar with FC, since I ran Redhat for years.

There is nothing this good for running Myth on SuSE, otherwise I would
have gone with SuSE. (my current distro of choice)

The MOST IMPORTANT thing you need to do is be careful purchasing your
hardware to make sure everything is Myth compatible. This is much more
important than choice of distros! :-)
