[KLUG Members] any experience with Debian Sarge & Dell 39160 SCSI controller?

The plan is to use Sarge which installs a non-smp kernel by default. The
first thing from there would be to install an smp kernel from there. 

I've been doing some more reading and I think my concern falls into two
areas. When you add a disk to hardware raid can you do that without
losing existing data in the raid? I've never tried it and that's more a
concern with the hardware raid than LVM. 

The second concern is that it seems if things do go bad it's a lot
harder to recover because most rescue cds or Live CDs don't support
mounting up an LVM volume to recover any data.
