Assuming LVM is the same on Linux has IBM implemented it in OS/2 4.5, then
adding a new drive to RAID 5 is a hot operation and a snap.

1) Add drive to hot-swap hardware
2) Use RAID management software to add the new drive to the existing array
3) Use LVM to create a new partition with the free space it then sees in the
array
4) Assign the new partition to be a component of the existing logical drive
5) df at the command line and see your new disk space
