How you enable various mechs depends upon the application.  Often time the application wants to 
find a file in /usr/lib/sasl2 (actually the SASL libraries will look for this when loaded by 
the application - for instance sendmail will try to load Sendmail.conf from 
the SASL directory).  You also need to determine if you application is 
linked to SASL 1 or 2.
