Subject: [KLUG Members] Wireless card issue - Charity case

Greetings!
This mailing list has seen its share of issues with wireless cards, and
I had one that came up over this past weekend, so I thought I would contrib-
ute this one.

The system is a Dell Optiplex G1, 400 mHz Pentium II, 160 MB RAM,
about 10 GB of hard drive space.

The OS is Fedora Core 5, which appears to detect everything (else!)
properly on the system.. USB, sound, mouse, monitor, on-board ethernet,
etc. Most everything works outta the box, or is easy to get working with
   little effort.

One of the benefactors of this project (which is essentially recycling the
system for use in a charitable giving situation) recently purchased a wireless
card, specifically an Airlink101 AWLH3026T, which is a PCI card that provides
802.11G/B. Some rudimentary search online implied that would work in Linux.

And it might, but it ain't easily done in Fedora Core 5. The system is not
entirely insensitive to the presence of the card (see the attachments); I am
out of time to work on this issue and would like someone to take it from here.

The three attachments concern dmesg snapshots, one with the card in place
(with-wireless), another without the card (no-wireless), and a third (differ-
ence), which is the output of the command:

                      diff no-wireless with-wireless

If someone wants to take this little project, I'd be most appreciative,
even if you can tell me definitively that the card is clearly NOT supported
by Linux, and should be returned for a refund.

Please reccomend a card to use instead, if you know of one.

                            Thanks and Regards,
                            ---> RGB <---
