[KLUG Members] OpenLDAP and timeout

Hello,
The ldapsearch command in OpenLDAP appears to not offer a timeout option. When
multiple URI's are configured in the ldap.conf file, it should be possible to
specify how long to wait if the first specified server is down before
attempting to contact the second, and so on. In the apparent absence of such an
option, one gets a timeout of 3 minutes, which is just ridiculous. How does one
set this timeout?
