One way or another (things I thought should work didn't) I've got the
sdk installed and actually compiled and ran the "Hello World!" program.
Now I are a Java developer!!

I assume this ensures that I have the runtime I need with OO.o2

Now I want to install OpenOffice 2.

I have used the mandrake system config tool to uninstall OpenOffice, but
there are still OO directories and files scattered about (maybe just
in /home/ericb--a quick look didn't show any others, but there might
be). Do I need to delete all of those before the new install?

I have downloaded the tarball. Does it matter where I unpack the tarball
or will the rpm create the right directories and install things in the
right place?

Thanks/
