Have a Toshiba M45-S2653 laptop here that has two network interfaces. A
LAN interface that is a Marvell 88E8036 (driver: sk98lin) and a wireless
interface that is an Intel/PRO 2200BG (driver: ipw2200). Odd thing is
that both of these are recognized but neither will configure via DHCP or
tx/rx when an IP address is assigned manually. The arp table on the
laptop always shows as "<incomplete>" for any IP address on the LAN you
try and ping. The MAC never appears in the server's ARP table.

For kicks we plugged in a PCMCIA NIC (D-Link DFE-670TXD (driver:
pcnet_cs) that is an old standby for when things don't work). Only it
didn't work either. The laptop only seems to recognize it when booted
with the card installed (link lights appear on card) but still nothing
happens.

The internal LAN interface must work physically as the DHCP server on
the LAN sees the DHCP requests from the PXE boot request and the MAC
address it sees is correct.

This is SuSe 10 straight off the DVD. My gut feeling is that if I
*COULD* run the updates it would work, but without a network
connection.... I am however surprised by the failure of the DFE-670TXD
to work as that card is old (a bus/PCMCIA problem perhaps?)

I did try manually setting the sk98modules to 100FD and 100HD, but that
didn't seem to help any; and I really didn't expect it too but it was
worth a shot.

Anyone have any ideas?
