Is there something similar to AnyDVD for Linux?
I know under windows I use it to remove the encryption from my DVD's so I
can make backups from Duallayer disks to single layer disks and play them
anywhere ( PC - Linux or Windows , or any of my older DVD players )
I may need to see if this works under wine.
( I use AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 which are from the same company under Windows
to dup my DVD's.. )

OK, now it makes sense. (I don't like it, but it makes sense)
This whole "duping a DVD" thread was making me wonder if only the copy
wouldn't play in XP ... (which didn't make sense)
