Thank you.   Now...

My "Using Samba" book says that I also have to restart any samba and
clients to reload the conf file.

I used /etc/init.d/samba restart.  That appeared to work.

However, the windows machines no longer see the server. I've tried
disconnecting the drive; logoff/logon; and rebooting but I still can't
get the connection to my server.
