Both Samba and Netatalk can emulate these if the underlying filesystem
does not support them.  In many cases EA can be used in place of
resource forks.  This is a pretty common problem these days;  forks are
not just a Mac issue, NT has supported them for a long time and Windows
is starting to use them.  The important part is to make sure that your
backup procedure includes EA.
