As a condolence,  I wouldn't be surprised at all.  There are many
factors at play from the fonts, to the font substitution scheme, right
down to what the renderer thinks the DPI of the display is.

People shouldn't be confused about what HTML is - a rather loosey goosey
markup scheme.  If perfect presentation is terribly important than one
doesn't use HTML.

I don't see how that would effect how a web page would render.
