yast says my graphics card is a "SiS 6306 3D-AGP" or or a
"SiS530,620 GUI Accelerator+3D".

After your suggestion about the video driver, I discovered there is
a LOT of "problems" with the SiS530 chip set!

Here are my Compuke BIOS settings choices:
"Main Storage Security Advanced"

Under Advanced there is:
1) PCI Devices
SIS USB Controler  : IRQ 11
Ethernet           : IRQ 10
Audio device       : IRQ 5
SIS VGA controller : enabled

2) BUS Options
PCI Bus Mastering                    : Enable
PCI VGA Palette Snooping             : Disable
OnBoard Monchrome Video Mode Support : Enable
Video Memory size                    : 4 MB

3) Device Options
Alternative Memory Reporting : Disable
Parallel Port Mode           : Bi-Directional
Num Lock State at Power-On   : On

As you can see, only a few choices!
