Ok, so this is the first time I've had a firewire drive enclosure to
play around with. I'd like to get it working under linux, but I'm
getting "SBP-2 device - login timed-out" errors. Here are some specifics:

I bought a HD + Enclosure pair from tigerdirect, it's a decent deal for
a 250GB and an enclosure and it was an impulse buy.

As expected the drive, using either firewire or usb, works great under
windows. The USB works great under linux, which is still no surprise.
It appears that I've got a Prolific PL-3507 chipset, which other people
have troubles with. But the other posts I've seen on the internet have
gotten it further then I have, with the kernel actually assigning a sdX
device to it.

Is this just a case of Hardware not going to work, or am I missing some
thing? I was hoping some one had suggestions before I go and try to
return this case.

lsmod:
Module Size Used by
sbp2 20612 0
eth1394 16776 0
ohci1394 28852 0
ieee1394 81336 3 sbp2,eth1394,ohci1394

Same issues if eth1394 is unloaded.
