Okay, I understand that devfs was depreciated and subsequently removed
from the kernel. I've got no issues with that [other then devfs worked
for *me*].
Now, though, I've got issues with udev. One of it's main selling points
seems to be the persistent device naming. But every time I reboot my
wacom jumps from /dev/input/event3 to event6 or back. And under devfs
it listed only devices that existed on my system, as I understand the
documentation I'm reading, udev should do this as well, but it's listing
nearly 1500 devices, a lot of which are ttyxx sure, but what about
/dev/sd*, I don't have any scsi/scsi-emu (usb drives etc) plugged in.
In short, does any one have some good documentation on udev?
google is not being my friend (or: I can't figure out what to search for)
and I swim right through the man page without retaining a single bit of
knowledge.
