I am both proud and delighted to announce the arrival of two new
Volunteers! Recent developments by our industrious Webmaster led to the
creation of three new positions this evening, soon to be filled by a
trio of enthusiastic new members!

Joe Roman has accepted the position of Category Master. He will be
taking on the challenge of reviewing and categorizing our extensive
library of past presentations, ranging from this year all the way back
to early 1998! His work will provide the backbone of our latest service:
a search engine providing quick and easy access to all of our published
presentations on a variety of selected topics. While his work has only
begun, the search engine itself is already available on our home page,
at http://kalamazoolinux.org. Check it out today!

Also joining our ranks is Jason Armstrong, who will be taking on the new
role of Poll Master (Okay, we may need to work on the titles yet)! His
job will be to keep a finger on the virtual pulse of the open source
community with opinion surveys on relevant topics ranging from the
crucial to the whimsical. Having faced the task of presenting a question
of the day to our weekly meetings, I fully appreciate the challenge of
Mr. Armstrong's new position. Let's all extend him a hearty welcome, and
the our best wishes and support. A sample survey is already posted to
our home page, right alongside our new presentation search. Have a look!
Vote early! Vote often!

The third position has been taken by Adam Tweddell. Already serving as
Education Director, he now also assumes the mantle of Meeting Minutes
Master, whose primary task will be to chronicle the proceedings of our
regular weekly meetings, and present them each week on our home page. I
think we may all look forward to his accounts of future meetings as KLUG
continues to strive toward new and greater accomplishments.

Last, but not least, I would like to thank our Webmaster, Bill Hollett,
whose tireless efforts have served in no small part to make these new
positions a reality. The back-end services he has developed were written
to support the duties of all three, and I suspect he's not done yet . I
want to extend a hearty thank-you to Bill and to all our new Volunteers,
and look forward to working with all of you in the months ahead.

Welcome aboard!
