Reasons for this would be that it would give me time to learn Linux, so that when I make the move to make the server based off of Linux I will know how to get it running, and be able to maintain it. The two remaining questions is, my class is based off of visual c#, and from browsing the web I see that it is possible to get visual studio 2005 for Linux. Has anybody had any experience with this? Secondly, there are 3 main games I play. Counterstrike: Source, Battlefield 2, and World of Warcrack. How would they fair with it. Does Linux support NVIDIA SLI? Anyways, I thank you all for your continued help regarding this big leap I am about to take.

Cedega (the transgaming emulator product) works very well. A friend of
mine plays World of Warcraft on it with no trouble at all. I've played
Half-life 2 a little slower than on Windows, but it works fine. I can't
speak for Battlefield 2, but there is a games database on
transgaming.com somewhere. I think SLI will work under Linux, but I've
never tried it. Nvidia's Linux drivers are very stable, but you don't
get near the performance benefit of having a fancy video card when
you're using the card under emulation. The system has to do a lot of
the 3D calculations in software.
