[KLUG Members] Distro Recommendations

Hi Peter,

I would recommend the Debian OS. My recommendation is not based on
practical application but rather the Debian social contract:

http://www.us.debian.org/social_contract

#1 of the Debian Social Contract is important - especially since the
recent "ip bridge" between Novel and Microsoft.

Choosing an OS to use is difficult. Although I recommend Debian, you
need to evaluate the use of the system and the amount of freedom you
are willing to give up. I use Debian and FreeBSD for my business, both
on servers and on desktops, but am writing this message on a Mac -
which is my personal laptop.

Any distro recommendation email will get its fair share of OS partisan
responses . . . read them and think about the various points of view
before making a choice.

good luck,

jason
