I've got AT&T DSL here, and I've got the same situation for the name
servers, which leads me to believe that the DSL modem is acting as a
DNS proxy server of sorts.
Logging into the DSL modem web interface, I can see what the actual
AT&T nameservers are.
I'm assuming that it would be a little more optimal to have my IPCop
box doing the DNS queries instead of the DSL modem, but it ain't
broke, so I ain't gonna fix it.
My suggestion is to see what settings you have for your ethernet
connection under windows, and mimicking that exactly under Linux.
