[KLUG Members] Outage limits availability, including KLUG

A connection problem between JAS networks and backbone Internet services
they use (primarily US Signal) made access to many Internet sites (including 
our website, mail, and FTP service) difficult or impossible. THis outage 
started about 12:10 PM on Tuesday afternoon, and ended around 10:30 this 
morning. If you're wondering where our website went, or what happened to your 
KLUG e-mail, now we can tell you.

We are planning some shifts and upgrades in our Internet presence in the next 
few weeks, and we hope to provide a couple of days' notice on our website 
regarding these changes, especially for changes that make our services 
unavailable for any period of time. Unfortunately, JAS Networks or their 
providers could not give us any arning for this recent interruption. I will 
say that this is the longest outage I have seen in about 5 years of using JAS 
in one role or another, and these things happen sometimes. When we can afford 
to get, or are situated to use redundant and independent Internet connections, 
we will go that way. Donations are always accepted however, (and they are 
tax-deductible!).
