I'm currently running gThumb 2.7.7 and it does allow me to drag-and-drop
images in a catalog to rearrange them. Once the images are in the
catalog, grab an image with your mouse and drag it around within the
catalog. You should see a dark vertical line (a jumbo text cursor)
appear that shows you exactly where you would be moving the picture to
in the catalog. Any pictures that you move will stay in the same
position each time you return to that catalog in gThumb. I'm not sure
what version they added the feature, but it does exist.
