Hello Everyone,
This past weekend I upgraded an IBM T30 Thinkpad from Ubuntu 6.06 to
6.10. I've been having problems with the machine freezing, seemingly at
random, network manager not automatically connecting, hyperlinks not
opening the appropriate program, etc despite my best attempts to set it
up properly. So I was trying to solve a lot of problems based in part on
my experiences loading 6.10 on my son's T22 Thinkpad. You might get the
idea I'm partial to Thinkpads???? ;-)
At any rate I decided to upgrade using the suggested method, Update
Manager <https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EdgyUpgrades>. I did back
things up as suggested and made notes as well. The update itself was
remarkable in it's lack of trouble. I elected to replace all the files
when asked if I wanted to. This part took several hours to complete. The
next morning I went back in and following the directions here
<https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Device/IntersilPrism25Wavelan?highlight=%28WifiDocs%2FDevice%29> and here <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/ThinkpadT30> adjusted the settings for my Intersil Corporation Prism 2.5 Wavelan minipci wireless adapter and suspend options in the files specified. I also disabled hibernate, this seemed to help? Of course I had to go through and check all the personal settings in the various logins as well.
All seems to be well. All the issues I was looking to solve were solved
and I appear to have a much better machine for it! WooHoo!

Regards,
