That is what I was saying. Examples of PHP I have at my immediate disposal all start with a PHP comment ahead of the HTML/XHTML. The only difference I can see is that some files the entire contents is 
contained within the PHP tag, and others close the PHP tag and then the HTML/XHTML begins. And yes, all examples were .php files.
