Your examples worked except I was still getting that error every once in
a while (1 in 10 times about). Then I noticed that for the windows
machine was seemingly randomly connecting as the guest account instead
of as the logged in user. I changed smb.conf to:
guest ok = no
and that made it a bit better but still failing at about 1 in 20.
On the windows side, I changed the properties of the printer to "Print
directly to Printer" from "Print to Spool" - Now after 200 or so print
jobs no error!
