yup, kde's konqueror (opensuse 10.1) works rather nicely with ftp. just add your ftp site to remote 
places, open your home directory, remote places, ftp site, drag-n-drop away.

not sure about gnome and nautilus cuz my ubuntu box is running some backups at the moment.
