*2007-10-16 - Managed Discs and Logical Volume Manager*
MD stands for Managed Disks, and LVM is Logical Volume Manager. MD can be
used to splice several hard drives together so they work better than they
would separately. LVM allows you to have more flexibility in what parts of
the operating system are stored in what areas of the disks, and to change it
later without reinstalling and losing all your data.
Mike Williams is originally from Kalamazoo, but now lives in Grand Rapids
most of the time. When not taking care of family, houses, or pets at one
location or the other, or trying to actually make a living he reconfigures
his mixed house network to look for new and creative things it can do.
