**2008-04-08 - Ubuntu Desktop Training: Customising the Desktop and
Applications*
6.1 Introduction The Ubuntu desktop comes completely clean and free of
pre-determined icons and buttons. Customising your desktop allows you to add
icons to suit your work style. In this lesson, you will learn about various
ways to set up your Ubuntu desktop to suit your requirements. You will also
learn how to install and uninstall various software applications.
