[KLUG Members] vpn pptp connection using Network Manager on Ubuntu

As my original note said, I'm using the Ubuntu 7.04 Network Manager
0.6.4 that comes with it. While its Help page walks one through basic
network and wireless setup, it says nothing about the VPN config
process.

I just tried downloading and installing the openvpn plugin for it, but
that hasn't made any difference in its behavior.

There seems to be a huge list of complaints and alleged bugs wrt Network
Manager. I wonder if there's a totally different network app one might
use, or whether a separate install of openvpn would work without
conflicting with what the Network Manager does do.
