Jason,
Are you looking for something for yourself only or something that your
people can attend?

If I were still in Kalamazoo, I would volunteer to set up a KLUG meeting
program (hint to current Kluggers). My sense is that if one knows Excel
there's a reasonably quick learning curve to working with OO.o Calc. The
same goes for Writer if you're also interested in that. The menu
structure is a bit different, so it sometimes takes a bit of looking to
find what one wants. And a few things are done differently. But if
people understand the logic of spreadsheets, they can get on top of the
mechanics of different brands of spreadsheet fairly quickly.

The oo.o website has lots of good documentation, too. This looks
interesting: http://openofficeschool.org/. Not all the people have to
study the documentation. Once the people get a basic start, it would
work for one person to have and be familiar with the documentation to
look up more advanced things as necessary.

There's a book by Jean Hollis Weber, _OpenOffice.org Writer_ that's
quite thorough. It's based on an eary version of Writer, but I don't
think a lot of the "how to's" have changed with the later versions,
other than added features.

Best wishes for the transition to OO.o.

EB
